Lies, Lies, Lies by Adele Parks

 Release Date - August 2020

Daisy and Simon are parents of a lovely, talented young daughter and seem to be in a happy marriage, but outside appearances aren't always what they seem. Simon desperately wants another child, but in their 40s now, they've already been through one fertility struggle and Daisy's not sure she can do it again at this age. Plus, Simon's drinking seems to be worsening.

Everything goes horribly wrong when Simon drinks too much at a party. Their world is thrown into chaos, and Daisy struggles to figure out the next steps in keeping her family whole.

How did I feel about Lies, Lies, Lies? It's clearly taken me time to even finish the book. I struggled with it and should have quit, but I wanted to keep going and get this one checked off my list. The basis of this story comes down to the secrets people keep from each other and how they have the power to destroy everything. As a result, I didn't like Simon or Daisy, and it's hard to root for the lead characters when you don't like them.

As things play out, there's another character that I didn't like, and this circles back to Daisy. I was so frustrated with her because of it. By the time, truths started getting revealed, I simply no longer cared for anyone other than the poor little girl. It was just a so-so read that appealed to me at times but thoroughly frustrated me the rest of the time.

Woman Last Seen by Adele Parks

 Release Date - February 1, 2022

Leigh Fletcher's two sons may not be hers by blood, but she's the only mother they know. Her oldest son's been pulling away from her, and it saddens her, but that's just what teens do. When she goes missing from their suburban home, no one knows what could have happened.

On the other side of town, Kai Janssen seems to have it all. She and her husband have a lavish penthouse home and amazing life. When Kai disappears, her husband fears the worst.

Detective Clements is assigned the two disappearances, and it's not surprising that suspicions are that the women left their lives to move on to new things. Did they though? The detective soon realizes there's more than meets the eye, and despite her superiors telling her to move on, she's going to keep looking at the disappearances and what happened to Leigh and Kai.

The reader is aware of what's going on early into the story. There's a definitely edgy feel as the story plays out. Without revealing any secrets, I'll say that I was never shocked by the outcome. If anything, the story left me feeling sad for everyone involved.

Just My Luck by Adele Parks

 Release Date - April 6, 2021

Every week, Lexi, Jake, and their children gather with their close friends for meals, drinks, and socializing. During that gathering, they always chip in to buy a lottery ticket. For 15 years they've played the same numbers, but one evening brings an end to all of that when the other couples tell Lexi and Jake that they're done contributing.

Lexi buys a ticket with the same numbers and ends up winning millions. Now that she and Jake are multi-millionaires, the other couples are back in the picture and want their share. They deny ever backing out. And, they'll do anything to get their hands on the money.

It's so hard to like the couples in this book. Once the money comes into the picture, they all start crawling out of the woodwork. I didn't love Jake's character either. His immediate spending habits led to half the couple's issues.

The story is immediately aggravating and then it takes a turn that leads to it becoming even darker than first expected. It became a twisted read that was hard to put down.
