The Easy 5-Ingredient Healthy Cookbook by Toby Amidor, MS, RD, CDN

Genre: Cookbook
Publisher: Rockridge Press
Author: Toby Amidor, MS, RD, CDN
Release Date: March 20, 2018

Grab a copy of The Easy 5-Ingredient Healthy Cookbook and head into your kitchen. Who said healthy recipes have to take hours? The book begins with an introduction to healthy cooking. It covers aspects like shopping for quality ingredients on a budget and avoiding splurges.

It goes into clean eating and different diets that follow those guidelines. You'll learn about the staples to keep on hand and kitchen tools you need to have. Once you're past those informative sections, you dive into the recipes. They're broken down into categories:

  • Smoothies and Breakfasts
  • Hearty Soups and Salads
  • Easy Appetizers and Sides
  • Simple Snacks and Mini Meals
  • Vegan and Vegetarian Mains
  • Fish and Seafood Mains
  • Chicken and Turkey Mains
  • Beef and Pork Mains
  • Desserts and Sweet Treats
  • Sauces, Dressings, and Staples

Some of the recipes are designed for your slow cooker. If you have the chance, I find that I use my Power Pressure Cooker XL more than any appliance in my kitchen. I do so because you can brown meats first and then switch to slow cooking without messing up two pots. It also works as a pressure cooker, rice cooker, steamer, and soup pot. I tried the recipe for Slow Cooker Pear-Cinnamon Oatmeal and loved it. I used the almond-cashew milk and swapped maple syrup for honey.

For the price, you simply cannot beat The Easy 5-Ingredient Healthy Cookbook. Push the aspects of healthy aside if you want, the recipes themselves are easy for everyone. That makes this book a winner. Avoid spending hours prepping and cooking a meal. Grab five ingredients and have dinner ready with little effort.
